"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to His power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
Why is God able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think? There are many reasons. He is able because He is the Creator of all things, the sustainer of life itself and He loves "to do" things out of love for those who trust in Him. Also, God is RICH, and His wealth far exceeds that of earthly gain. God gives out of His abundance, and therefore is able to give more abundantly than we can imagine. He is richer than ten million millionaires because His riches are intangible and permanent rather than material and destructible. The Lord is rich in mercy and love (Eph 2:4), rich in compassion (Psalm 103:8), rich in power (Deut. 8:18 NLT), rich in kindness and patience (Romans 2:4), rich in grace (Eph 2:7), rich in glory (Phil 4:19, Col 1:27), rich in justice, righteousness, salvation, wisdom and knowledge (Isaiah 33:5-6). The things that God is able to give us out of His abundance include a wealth that is ours in Christ, given so that our "hearts may be encouraged....attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Col. 2:2-3) If we ever doubt how much God can give, we need to think about riches and abundance. We are wealthy when we gain HIS understanding, His knowledge and His wisdom found in the mystery of Christ. The endless riches of a merciful Millionaire who loves us with an everlasting love are ours for receiving and ours for His blessing. When God's power is at work within us, we will find every treasure completely as we abide in Christ Himself and in Christ alone. It's that simple and that beautiful. "To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen".
