I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
This is a world of constant change. We are living yet flawed human beings who are guilty of changing our minds, our clothes, our residences, our jobs. As quickly as a rush of wind, we change our opinions, our diets and our plans. Yet we serve a living God who neverchanges. We often forget that it is God’s unchanging character which preserves us from the chaos and the consequences of our contradictory lives. “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6) God is consistent and persistent in His predictability and His ability to remain the same for eternity. His “faithfulness endures to all generations,” (Psalm 119:90). The Lord changes not, yet His Holy Word can be rightly applied to every diverse situation in our lives because “the Word of our God will stand forever,” (Isaiah 40:8). ”Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever,” (Hebrews 13:8). The result? Our trust and hope can stand firm on an immovable Rock in the midst of lives that are full of change.
Mighty God and loving Father, thank you for your unchangeable character, your flawless faithfulness. Teach us how to live and love like you, without shifting and doubting in our belief, full of faith and trust in Your steadfast promises. Amen.
