At this season of the year, we often read a saying that originates from the nativity story: "Wise men still seek Him". We think about the magi, the wise men who sought the promised King after searching the skies and following the star in the east. What drew those men of wisdom to search and seek out Jesus? The answer is simple. They were created for seeking--and so are we. According to Acts, God made every man in every nation over all the earth, He determines our exact years on this earth and the precise time period in which we live, and He created men "that they should seek God...and find Him". The wise men who searched for Jesus were rewarded with finding Him. It is no different for those who seek Him today. "But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find Him, if you search after Him with all your heart and with all your soul," (Deut. 4:29).
There are rich rewards for those who seek. We not only find God Himself, we find His treasures and we feel His pleasure.
We are rewarded with His goodness: "The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him." (Lam. 3:25)
We are rewarded with His love: "I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me." (Prov. 8:17)
We are rewarded with answered prayer: "Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart..." (Jer 29:12)
We are rewarded with joy: "...those who seek Him shall praise the Lord! " (Psalm 22:26)
We are rewarded with eternal life: "For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live..." (Amos 5:4)
We are rewarded with rest: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
We are rewarded with His righteousness: "for it is the time to seek the Lord, that He may come and rain righteousness upon you." (Hosea 10:12)
A continual list of endless rewards is found in a wise and constant seeking of our God, who is 'not far from each one of us," and waits patiently to bestow His blessings on those who choose to search for Him. Are you a wise man who seeks?
"Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!" (Psalm 105:4)
